Da Pontremoli si raggiunge Zeri e successivamente il Passo del Rastrello (1044 mt altitudine). E' questo il tratto più impegnativo perché in 25 km abbiamo 1130 mt di dislivello.

Al Passo ci immettiamo sul tracciato dell' Slta Via dei Monti Liguri (inizialmente cartello Via Regia) e, passando per I Casoni, Sella di San Genesio, Passo Apicella, Valico dei Solini, si scende a Ceparana. Da qui si può raggiungere la Spezia oppure (come in questo caso) Santo Stefano di Magra e Sarzana
