The only dangerous part is just outside Port Townsend, on Route 20. It is narrow, hilly, and without a shoulder at all. The cars can drive fast here. I have done it, and it is a pretty ride, but avoiding it may be worth it.
Route 101 has a very large shoulder, and should not cause a problem. The rest of this is all a wonderful bike trail, all the way to Port Angeles. The beginning of the trail is directly across from the Casino in Blyn. Just go right, and then left.
If you want to go camping, continue to the Elwha Park Entrance that can be found further west on Route 101 on the left, and camp at Altair Campground. Or, if you have the energy, climb the 6 miles up to Olympic Hot Springs and soak your muscles in the wilderness after a great ride. I have done this, and it is worth it.
