About This Route

The Alpe-Adria bike route, renowned as one of Europe's most scenic and favored cycle paths, traverses the alpine landscapes from Austria's northern Alps to Italy's Adriatic coast. Known in Austria as the Alpe-Adria Radweg and in Italy as Ciclovia Alpe-Adria, the route is celebrated for its unique transalpine journey. A distinguishing feature of the Alpe-Adria route is a 60-kilometer segment that transforms a disused railway network in the Alps into a breathtaking cycling experience. This particular stretch includes a continuous cycling path that follows the old railway lines, incorporating numerous tunnels that are now solely accessible to cyclists, alongside beautifully restored ancient bridges and railway stations, all invigorated by the thriving bicycle tourism.
