Gemächlich und flach geht es entlang des Flusses durch diese uralte Kulturlandschaft. Eine Besonderheit sind die in den Kalkstein gehauenen Felswohnungen, die heute noch bewohnt werden. In Amboise wartet eines der wichtigsten Schlösser: Von hier wurde königliche Politik betrieben, Leonardo da Vinci eine Wirkungsstätte geboten aber auch führende Protestanten hingerichtet. Auch das Grabmal Leonardos befindet sich hier. Weiter geht es in die Gegend von Vouvray mit den berühmten Weinbergen für die Chenin Blanc-Traube zu Ihrem Etappenziel Tours, wo St.Martin (der seinen Mantel mit dem Schwert teilte), einstmals Bischof war.
