This route requires sturdy tires, since parts of it is on narrow gravel and/or forest paths.
The route starts at the harbor in the charming town of Faaborg, where you can buy smoked fish for lunch, either to bring on the tour or eat directly. After exiting Faaborg, the route heads up into the hills ironically called the Funen "Alps", and the first long climb is indeed challenging. The route then takes you on small paved roads through hilly forests. C. 2.5 km after Korinth, you turn on to an unpaved forest path. After crossing the Odensevej road, you go through a gate and on to a very, very narrow path (see cover photo) through hilly meadows with grazing cows. The tour then goes to Håstrup, a charming Danish village with cross-timbered houses and straw roofs, before turning towards the sea, which you get several nice views of along the road. In Horne, you can visit Funen's only round church and a few km's later, in Bjerne, you can stop at Grands Vin and taste some local and excellent blackcurrant and gooseberry wine. You then go out to the coast and through Dyreborg. If you follow the route, you will have to hop off and pull your bike for a few hundred meters on a narrow walking path, or take the alternative Dyreborgskovvej instead. Along jerne Langgyde, you have excellent views across the bay to Faaborg, where you will soon arrive...!
