Highlights
- Bike along the legendary Route 66 and experience true American small town life. Starting from Chicago, the route leads through several states to Los Angeles in California.
- Visit Disney World, “the happiest place on earth” in Florida and meet Mickey Mouse, Cinderella and Buzz Lightyear.
- Visit the infamous prison Alcatraz in front of San Francisco’s coast where the notorious criminal Al Capone used to serve a sentence. Here, you experience a piece of American history.
Tips
- If you want to bike through the entire United States, prepare yourself for not meeting anyone for stretches of time. The USA is a very big country with many uninhabited spaces. Loneliness on the road can lead to you not being able to enjoy your trip anymore or to you finishing your journey earlier than planned.
- Don’t hesitate to get up early and get back in the saddle in the early morning. This way, you can ride in cool air for a few hours and make the most of the day. It’s getting hot towards 10:30.
- Your safety is especially important when cycling in big cities. You should be easily spotted and wear a safety vest as well as a helmet. Plan your route before starting your tour.
